What You Need to Do Your Taxes
Doing your taxes as a sex worker can be daunting. Hiring a tax professional who works specifically with models, dancers, content creators and full service providers can help ease the stress and uncertainty surrounding the process.
If you’ve booked a Q&A Call with Daisy Does Taxes, you might be wondering what you’ll need to bring to your consultation and what you should prepare ahead of time.
Before Your First Consultation
If you’re preparing for an introductory consultation with us, you won’t really need to have any specific paperwork on hand — unless there’s something you’d particularly like to go over with us. We won’t be looking at your income or expense spreadsheets, and we won’t need to see any legal documents of yours.
Instead, I would recommend writing down a few specific questions that you have, and leaving space for any notes you want to take during the meeting. Many people ask us about specific expenses they’ve incurred, or whether an LLC is the right choice for their business. Even how cash is reported on sex worker taxes Don’t worry – we’re experienced with it all.
"Is a S corp worth it or is LLC a better choice for me?"
Preparing Your Return
When it comes time to deal with your taxes as a sex worker, we’ll ask for the following:
- Any W2s you have from vanilla work
- Any 1099s you have from independent contractor work
- Any forms you’ve received pertaining to schooling or property that may affect your taxes
- And ideally, last year’s return.
You’ll also want to have your income and expense spreadsheets handy, and any receipts that we might need to refer back to.
Our Privacy and Discretion Policy
While we will need to handle documents that have your legal name and other information on them, we don’t need to use that name in our correspondence or our meetings if it’s not something you’re comfortable with. We try to start each meeting with a check that we’re using the correct name and pronouns.
Be sure to reference our full privacy policy for more details.
